Police constable killed by suspected armed robbers in Ho.
A police constable, Emmanuel Nii Atseku, was on Tuesday dawn, shot dead by armed robbers at a Gas filling station in Ho, Volta Region.
The incident occurred at a Filling station near Power House, a suburb in the municipality where the
constable was on night duty.
Confirming the incident to Kuul news, the Volta Regional Commander of Police, DCOP Peterkin Yentumi-Gyinae said the deceased was shot in the face.
The Regional Commander revealed that the police suspects the deceased was shot with a locally manufactured gun after which his AK 47 was supposedly taken from him.
“A straight look can tell you that he was shot in the face. We are however investigating to find out whether his duty gun was taken from him, because he is supposed to be on duty with his rifle”
The assailants were unable to launch their attack at the filling station because of the presence of the military and the police patrol team at the sound of the gun..
The body of the deceased constable Emmanuel Nii Atseku has been sent to the police hospital morgue in Accra while investigations are still ongoing.
“We have a hint that about 8 young men in all black attempted a break in a previous night but security was so timeous so they couldn’t attempt the break in. They tried to continue this dawn. We are currently monitoring so we are appealing to residents and the general public to volunteer information so as prevent another attack elsewhere”
