Ama K Abebrese speaks at UNDP forum.

Ghanaian actress/TV presenter, Ama Konadu Abebrese, affectionately called Ama K, was invited by the United Nation to speak at this year’s United Nation Development Project (UNDP) Africa Bureau, held in New York City, USA recently.
The multi award-winning actress shared her experience as an actress and also discussed ways the film industry could help bring about a change on the perception of Africa.
Talking about her experience, Ama K told Showbiz she felt very honoured to have spoken at the forum.
“It was an honour for me. I touched on important topics such as the role of women in conflict, my advocacy work with Safe Child Ghana and my anti-skin bleaching campaign. I also had the opportunity to tour the United Nation headquarters in New York and it was really fun,” she said.
Asked if she’s currently working on any project, Ama K said, “There are lots of projects in the pipeline which I don’t want to talk about now. I’m currently involved in lots of humanitarian and film projects and my fans will soon know about them.”
Ama K has featured in several movies. Her role in Leila Djansi’s Sinking Sands won her the Best Actress in Lead Role at the 2011 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in Nigeria.
Before relocating to Ghana in 2009, Ama worked as a TV presenter with Youth Culture Television (YCTV) and Original Black Entertainment Television (OBE TV) all in London, UK.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts and Drama from the St Mary’s University, Twickenham in the UK.
