‘Highlife Pioneer’ comment was a slip of tongue – Bisa Kdei.
Highlife artiste, Bisa K’dei (@Bisa_Kdei) has confessed that he made a great mistake when he described himself as a ‘pioneer of highlife music’ in the country.
The Mansa and brother brother hitmaker after receiving an award at the 2016 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) described himself as one of the pioneers of the highlife legend.
He apologized for the comment after he returned on stage to receive another award. But this did not insulate him from criticisms from the public.
Entertainment critics said they wondered what could have caused the highlife artiste to say this when clearly the highlife genre of music has several legends including Nana Ampadu, Kakaaku, Ampofo Adjei, Adofo, Paa Bobo, Sibo Brothers, Amakye Dede and several others.
But this comment, Bisa K’dei in an interview on Adom FM’s Mid-morning show, ‘Work and Happiness’ admitted that the comment was a slip of the tongue.
He said it the ‘tension on the VGMA stage’ which made him make the comments.
“It was actually a slip of the tongue but then when I said it, it was actually too late…that’s why when I came back, I came to apologise…you know sometimes when you are being called on stage, you feel a bit tensed and that is what caused me to say that.
“I was actually going to say one of the strong pillars [of highlife music currently].” He said.
