Ghanaians don’t support young talents – Apaatse.

Published

on

Afro-pop singer and Ga rapper Apaatse says Ghanaians do not provide an enabling environment for young talents to develop in the country's entertainment industry.
According to him, the industry always focuses on already established talents to the detriment of the many young talents.
That, he explained, accounts for the difficulty to see more young talents doing very well in the industry.
“We don't discover new talents. It is hard for Ghanaians and industry players to discover new people… They like to hold on to the same old thing. We don't give young ones the chance and opportunity to show,” he told NEWS-ONE in an exclusive interview.
Apaatse was discovered by 1F Entertainment six years ago, the same time he dropped his first single titled, Wedding Day. Though the song was known at the time, not many knew his face because he was busy with schooling.
After Wedding Day, he also released other singles that he promoted on the street. He is not just popular and inspirational to music fans in the Ga communities, but he also got nationwide endorsements including nominations at 4syte Music Video Awards and other big feats in 's music industry.
But he maintains the industry doesn't support new talents.
Apaatse, a Ga, is the third of six children and music is his passion.
According to him, none of the current crop of Ga rappers can compete him in terms of rap. He described himself as a real Ga rapper. He sings and raps.
“I am the best Ga rapper. You know I am the best Ga rapper now. I call Tinny the legend of Ga rap and I call myself the best Ga rapper.
“…the legend of Ga rap said I am the best Ga rapper when he is not there,” he said.
Apaatse sings and raps about things around him, especially the ghetto where he grew up.
“Where I grew up, if you are not determined and dedicated, you can't make it because there are many things that can distract you. Where I lived, weed and cocaine were sold there and most of the people I grew up with have all turned into junkies and all that… Even when I started doing music, I told myself that if I got to 25 years and hasn't recognised me as a musician, I will stop and leave the hood and get a new job somewhere so I don't become like the people I grew up with. This should give you an idea of where I grew up,” he stated.
Apaatse is currently waiting to wow the music scene with his upcoming single titled ‘Keba.' It will be released with a video in July under the management of Sisko Josh Records.

According to the experienced man of God, smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol are just sins against one's own self and body but not against God, because the Lord created these to be given to those who were in trouble and needed help, so if you take them, you are just doing your body harm and not sinning against the almighty.
