Do you know every single individual possess a unique quality? That quality is valuable and can be used in changing the world around us.
The by-product of the use of one’s virtues ( valuable qualities ) does produce an impact — a significance influence in any given circumstance at all.
I’m a blogger and a proud teacher-trainee of Akatsi College of EducationAKATSICO. Well, it will interest you to know that I’m a ‘small boy pastor‘ too. So I dey love ‘churchchurch‘ things waaaa, thus, a member of PENSA ( Pentecost Students and Associates) in my college.
Before the end of our second semester in July, leaders of the PENSA DENOMINATION (AKATSICO) thought it wise for us to embark on an evangelism program. Since it is well known that folks in the villages lack the privilege of listening to the Gospel of God as we do in the cities and towns.
Frankly, I was hesitant to go – being afraid of how life would be in the village. Hmmm! Chale come to think of it oh: No whatsapp, facebook, instagram etc for a whole week in one village whose’s name is strange like my great-grand father’s World-War II khaki trousers.

But as said by Mark Berry;  ‘what is written, is written’ so i happened to have also joined the caravan of preachers to share love and peace at Gorni-Kope, a village in the Ketu South District of Akatsi, Volta Region. This decision of accepting to go turned to be #MyStarMoment and it is of #WorldClassQuality
But chale, all my imaginations of life in the village was proved wrong. In fact upon our arrival, we were treated like STAR BEER. Those who know what STAR BEER is can easily relate.

#MyStarMoment— my smile was like that of this man in the photo when they welcomed us

I then understood the benefits of being a celebrity. In fact, they treated us like John Dumelo. Moreso, their warm welcome gave us fertile grounds to plant our seeds.
These are some of the things we accomplished:
1. Motivational Talk With Pupils
Most teenagers in the village were school drop-outs. Some as a result of early pregnancy, others completed JHS but couldn’t further as a result of monetary issues.
However, others also dropped out because they lacked motivation— they just didn’t see the need for education. So they join their parents on the farm to make ends meet.

Having identified this, we talked to them and adviced them on the need for education and the endless benefits they’ll gain from it.
Interestingly, some promised and assured us that they’ll go back to school prior to our advice. We also strenghthened and encouraged the ones who are trying their very best to climb the academic ladder—to keep doing their best.
2. Dawn Broadcasting
Walking from village to village

Walking from village to village

‘The early bird catches the worm’…. the basic occupation of the village folks is farming. So they leave very early in the morning to their various farms.
Hence, with the use of megaphones we embarked on dawn broadcasting from hamlet to hamlet spreading the goodnews of Christ.
This was also a great move since some of the village folks testified that they really get inspired every dawn—when we pass by sharing the Gospel.
3. House to House visitation

.

With this, we actually targetted the elderly people. We talked to them about the need to repent and give their lives to Christ. We also encouraged some who were bed-ridden as a result of illness.
The joy of our visitation and words of encouragement alone spark some hope in them to also smile— ”at least someone cared for them”, they will say.
4. Night Rallies

There’s but a little source of entertainment in the village. So after the day’s work, after eating supper, you jump into your bed then that’s all. ( no wonder they have alot of kids).
Thus, we do organise evening rallies every night. There was film show ( showing Christian movies ), teachings and good Gospel music and you can just imagine that joy that engulf them as they dance and rejoice.
5. Humanitarian supports

Cutting the hair of a child with overgrown hair

Some students complained that, their school uniforms are torn, thus, their refusal to go to school. Quickly, the group decided to contribute something small to solve that problem. But do you know the one which was very intriguing?
One woman said, she and her children don’t go to Church simply because, they don’t have church-dress. Ah well, how you for do? We settle them too and you should have seen the excited they were.
Lessons Learnt
1. Be grateful for the little you have.
We criticise telecommunication companies if there’s a little downtime. But know today that there’s someone out there who doesn’t even get a single bar of network to make a call.
You have clothes to put on, but someone doesn’t have even one to use for church.
And I’ll entreat us all to make use of the sacred-houses we have around us to build ourselves spiritually. Someone out there doesn’t even have a single church around them to go to.
They’ll have to walk miles to attend one. The bottom line is, be grateful for the little you have.
2. Enjoy the little things that make you happy.
These people don’t have luxury yet; they enjoy nature. They swim in the stream, they appreciate the very skies above them, they do their works with happiness.
Do same and some other little things that make you happy and your life will never be same.
3. Share the little you have with others
Visibly, these people are not monetarily sound but they care to share with us what they have— Gari, coconut, smoked cassava, cooked corn (my favourite) and what have you. They’re ever ready to share. And you know, sharing is caring.
So please share the little you have with others and you’ll be fulfilled. I wish i had some bottles of STAR BEER with me to share with some of the elder men.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
1. To the churches — churches should send their branches to the villages as well. There are people there hungry for the word of God. When we went, i forced myself not to believe that, most churches are in for profits and not neccessarily for the Gospel.
Because, we have several branches of churches in our various cities and towns while in the villages, not even a pin of those churches are there. So there’s need for them to extend their hands to those remote areas as well.
2. The Government — the villages we went to had electricity but no pipe borne water. That’s very bad. Water is life.
So we’re calling on the government to provide these villages with good drinking water to help prevent the adverse effects of drinking contaminated water.
3. To you reading this — we’re in the ‘busy-age‘ but find a time and visit some village around you to share the little you have with them.
Alright!!! This is #MyStarMoment that have got a #WorldClassQuality.
