The funeral of Mduduzi ‘Mandoza' Tshabalala was held at the Grace Bible Church in Soweto on Friday before he was laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery next to other icons including Gugu Zulu, Flabba, Simba Mhere and Eddie Zondi.
Oskido and others during the Kwaito melody.
The South African Kwaito music legend's funeral service was a fitting send-off filled with touching tributes from those close to him.
The service also included a medley of Kwaito hits through the years and was attended by a multitude of local stars including Oskido, Ringo, Danny K and Mdu.
Mandoza died after a year-long battle with cancer. He took to the stage in recent weeks at a concert at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, despite having lost his sight due to illness.
His friends and family say he was determined to perform until the end. The musician's hit song Nkalakatha has been praised for unifying black and white South Africans.
Nkalakatha, a Zulu word which loosely means “the big boss”, was about celebrating success.
