It’s wrong for celebrities to endorse politicians – Shatta Wale.
Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale opines that it is a bad idea for showbiz personalities to endorse political parties.
Several celebrities have joined the political fray by endorsing the candidature of certain aspirants ahead of the December 7 polls.
Clement Bonney (Mr Beautiful), Mzbel, Michael Ola, John Dumelo, Papa Nii and Bukom Banku are some showbiz personalities who have endorsed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) while Socrate Safo, Kwame A Plus, Lucky Mensah, Mark Okraku-Mantey, Daddy Lumba, Wisa and Great Ampong are for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Some musicians have gone to the extent of recording campaign songs for their respective choices but this, according to Shatta Wale is unhealthy for the industry because fans of musicians cut across the political divide.
“I don’t think it is worth it… I believe when you are a celebrity you are one type of person that people listen to, and when you take sides, it means you are trying to preach something against what you stand for,” he said on Starr Chat, Wednesday.
Shatta Wale further advised the youth to refrain from all forms of violence because that will only spell doom for the country.
Not long ago, Samini also spoke against some celebrities’ decision to endorse political parties.
“Personally, I don’t think it’s not too healthy to do that…when you take sides in serious issues like this…and you happen to offend a huge fan by that move, it goes a long way to affect your career going forward…,” he told Joy News.
