I don’t pay payola – Venunye
Tayema Music signed artiste Venunye has disclosed in an interview on Dzigbordi 87.7fm that he has never engaged in paying payola to push any of his songs.
In fact good music sells and his mission is to give out the best to fans out there. Payola is unofficially a marketing strategy mostly used by new or old artiste , where there is an exchange of money before songs get played on radio.
Although the strategy may have worked for many artistes, Venunye insisted not having a part in this act even during early days of his career. He tells Martin Rouny on Dzigbordi 87.7fm,Saturday Jam. “No, I've not paid payola to any presenter or DJ before. The thing is, every good song will sell itself with little push”.
He excused himself with a big shout out to the radio presenters who have provided support to his music career; Bright Ellis, Paul Anku, Micheal Nene Lamptey Dj flavour and Dj flexal. This does no suggest other DJs or presenters have not been supportive. “Big ups to every DJ and presenter still”. He said.
Venunye is currently promoting his singles and getting familiar with the music fraternity out there through shows and radio appearance in the Volta region and beyond. He has an ultimate dream of tackling some of society's serious challenges through the power of music.
